As a whiter shade of pale girl with a warm yellow undertone, finding a bronzer that works with my skin tone is quite a challenge.
Over the years I've gone through many bronzers of all prize rangers. Some of them I liked, most of them not so much. However, none of them awed me that much that I repurchased one of them.
So, after another unsatisfying bronzer trial this spring I started back at square one.
Finally, I decided to give the Physicians Formula Murumuru Butter Bronzer a try. I saw and read raving reviews about this bronzer for almost a year. Unfortunately, I couldn't get my hands on this bronzer as Physicians Formula wasn't available in Germany until this spring.
What can I say the Physicians Formula Murumuru Bronzer is the first one I have ever repurchased. This bronzer is the best I ever tried for only 16,99€.
Although it runs under the label "powder bronzer" the formula is almost creme-like or to go with the name soft like butter. It blends seamlessly into the skin and stays on for hours. The finish is what I always searched for not matte but also not sparkly just a lit-from-within glow. It almost looks like I don't wear a bronzer at all, that's how good the finish is.
Colour-wise it works wonders for my skin tone. I have the shade "Bronzer" which is still on the lighter side but can be build up without caking. The shade is neither too warm nor too ashy. Besides to bronze my face, I also use the Murumuru Butter Bronzer to contour my cheekbones. This works for my skin tone, it might not work for everyone.
The Bronzer comes in two shades "Light Bronzer" and "Bronzer". Both of them are on the lighter side. Therefore, pale girl like me can buy the darker shade. While for women of colour, the darker shade is probably still to light.
Oh, and the scent of the Murumuru Bronzer is also divine. It smells like summer in a pan. The only thing I don't like about this bronzer is the sponge applicator. For me it is useless, but then again I am drowning in makeup brushes. So I couldn't care less about the strange applicator.
Like I said before, I have and will rebuy this bronzer without a doubt. So far, I can wholeheartedly say, this is the best bronzer I ever tried.
Have you tried the Physicians Formula Murumuru Bronzer?
Today's favourite has made it on my list through a constant good performance no matter the circumstances.
Okay, this was quite a dramatic introduction for a makeup product. Nevertheless, a Setting Spray has to work against all odds. Meaning it has to keep your makeup in place all day no matter the weather, what you are doing or if you just have a really bad skin day.
The Urban Decay All Nighter Long-Lasting Makeup Setting Spray does that for me.
Throughout the last five years, the Urban Decay All Nighter Setting Spray has kept my makeup in place through long workdays, sleepless nights, hot summer days and even sweaty workout sessions.
Although I tried different setting sprays during the last years, I always come back to the Urban Decay Setting Spray.
I love that it dries down in an instant, so I don't have to wait five minutes to let sink into my skin before I can go on with my day. Furthermore, it doesn't matter what my skin condition is, oilier or the drier, the Setting Spray keeps my makeup in place without fading, cracking or settling into fine lines and at the end of the day, it almost looks like I just applied it.
So, if your makeup is running off your face, I recommend giving The Urban Decay All Nighter Long-Lasting Makeup Setting Spray a try. It will change your makeup game, I promise.
# Eye Primer
To be honest, today's Favourite is a rekindled love affair. Perhaps you have had this kind of experience, too... you are absolutely committed to one product, but somehow you end up trying others and thereby forgetting you already found that Holy Grail product?
Exactly that happened to me and the ARTDECO Eyeshadow Base. For a few years, this was my ride or die makeup product. The one I would never replace. However, makeup hauls on YouTube became a big thing and I started to stray off.
I tried many other eye primers, most of them much more expensive. However, none of them has fully convinced me. So, after many failed trials, I finally found my way back to the ARTDECO Eyeshadow Base. Having spent a lot of money on other eye primers, I can tell you no other eye primer is as good as the ARTDECO Eyeshadow Base.
Here is why...
It has a neutral colour, so you can use it no matter what your skin undertone is. The consistency is creamy but very light. Due to its creaminess, you only need a tiny amount of product. Even better, the Eyeshadow Base comes in a container and not in a tube, like most of the others, so you can easier regulate the product withdrawal.
Also, unlike all the other eye primers I tried, this one really locks my eyeshadows into place. It doesn't matter if I cry, rub my eyes, or sweat, my eye makeup doesn't come off. As a matter of fact, at the end of the day, it still looks like I just applied it. Plus, I need less product to achieve my desired eye makeup look as the Base seems to intensify the eyeshadow colours and all this for under 10€.

- Lip Liner-
Over the years I build quite a collection of lip liners most of them are NYX Slim Lip Pencil, simply because all the other lip pencils I tried so far fall short compared to the NYX ones.
When you think of lip liners, the one task they have to accomplish is to line the lips. Nonetheless, a lot of lip pencils are unusable for this. They are either so soft that they break at the softest touch or so hard that it is impossible to transfer any colour at all to the lips.
The NYX Lip Pencils are the perfect mixture. They are soft enough for a great colour payoff and at the same time hard enough to avoid immediate breakage. For a price of under 5€, they are hands down as good or in many cases way better than higher priced products. Also, the colour range of these NYX Liners is at least comparable with many high priced lip liners. What more could one want?
Although I can't proof it, I am pretty sure that the NYX Lip Pencils are a dupe for the wooden MAC lip liners. Performance-wise there is no difference between them. Although MAC has a wider colour range, many of those lip liners are very similar/identical in shades. However, the main reason why I believe that the NYX and MAC lip pencils are the same product in a different packaging is, they are both made in Germany. With that said, there is only one manufacturer in Germany, who produces lip liners. So you can draw your own conclusions.
These three shades are my favourites for a nude everyday lip. I just cover my lips completely with one of these three Lip Pencils, add a clear gloss on top, and I am ready to go.

- Drugstore Mascara -
The one makeup product I wear every day no matter what is mascara. I tried and am still trying different mascaras, but the one that I always have at hand is the L'Oréal Paris Voluminous Mascara Waterproof.
The L'Oréal Paris Voluminous Mascara Waterproof is one of the few makeup products that made it from my teenage years into my adult life.
While at first the low price point was the main reason to give this Mascara a try, I quickly came to love this product.
As promised, it gives me noticeably longer and thicker lashes with just one application. I can build it up to a more dramatic, intense look by putting on several layers. No matter how many layers I apply, the L'Oréal Paris Voluminous Mascara Waterproof never clumps or flakes throughout the day.
The same goes for my curled lashes while using this Mascara the stay up all day.
Sure, I rotate and try different Mascaras all the time and yes there are other, pricier Mascaras that deliver more dramatic results with just one application. However, at a low price point (about 7€), the L'Oréal Paris Voluminous Mascara Waterproof offers everything I look for in an everyday Mascara - thicker, longer, and clump free lashes all day long. That's why I purchase it over and over again. In fact, there is nothing I don't like about this Mascara.
So, if you haven't tried it yet, I highly recommend giving the L'Oréal Paris Voluminous Mascara Waterproof a try, you won't be disappointed.
- Drugstore Concealer -
In the spirit of the new year new everything, I am introducing a new series to Shades of K - My Favourite...
In this series, I will share with you, my most beloved and repurchased beauty/fashion products. I also encourage you to tell me what's your favourite product, so that we can exchange experiences to avoid bad buys and discover new products.
For the beginning, I start with My Favourite... Drugstore Concealer.
Get it here
It's the Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Concealer.
To be honest, I can't tell you how many containers I used up. Of all the concealers I own and put through the test, drugstore as well as high-end ones, the Instant Age Rewind is hands down one of the best I ever tried.
It's insanely pigmented hence the coverage is amazing. The concealer doesn't crease or accentuate fine lines even better it blurs/diminishes them. I don't have dark circles, so I cannot tell from my own experience, but considering the high pigmentation, I say it can cover them. Really dark circles may need an extra layer.
Right after applying the Instant Age Rewind has a tightening sensation which feels like an instant lift for your eye area and who over 25 doesn't want that.
Many people don't like the applicator as they feel it's unhygienic. According to Maybelline, it's antimicrobial, so it shouldn't cause breakouts or other skin issues on anyone. For me, the applicator works like a charm.
Although I have to say, I would never use this concealer on clients. For the simple reason that there is no other way to access the product than by applying it with the applicator. The same applicator for different clients is just not an option, so unfortunately, I can't use this concealer on clients.
Other than that, I highly recommend the Instant Age Rewind Concealer.
What about you?
See you soon.
Okay, it is not one foundation it is the combination of Weleda’s Skin Food and Cover FX Custom Drops. While each product is a dream on its own, together they are a match made in heaven.
Weleda`s skin food is an oldie but a goodie, it’s been on the market for quite some time, it first launched in 1926. It is an ultra-rich moisturiser that deeply
hydrates your skin and leaves you with a healthy glow while protecting your skin it protects your skin from drying out during the winter months.
The Cover FX Custom Cover Drops are concentrated foundation pigments you can mix with any water, oil or silicone-based face product to achieve the desired coverage.
Combining these two you not only get deep hydration, adaptable coverage with a natural, dewy finish but you also save time in the morning by combining moisturiser and foundation in one step.
Tipp: Weleda’s Skin Food has a very thick consistency, a little goes a long way; also I prefer a beauty blender over a makeup brush to apply this product combination.
Let me know if you tried it. And what is your favourite winter-foundation?
